Percentile rank indicates what percentage of a distribution falls at or below a given value.
If your test score is at the 85th percentile, you scored equal to or higher than 85 percent of test-takers: Her percentile rank on the entrance exam was 92.
The measure is common in standardized testing, growth charts, and statistical analysis.
