percentiles
Distribution division markers
Percentiles divide a distribution into 100 equal parts, showing where a value ranks relative to others.
If a test score falls in the 90th percentile, it exceeds 90 percent of all scores.
Percentiles appear frequently in standardized testing, growth charts, and statistical analysis: Her height is in the 75th percentile for her age.
Not to be confused with percentages, which measure proportions rather than rank.
