passions
What drives devotees
Passions are intense emotions or strong enthusiasms.
The word suggests feelings powerful enough to override reason: crimes of passion, a passionate argument.
A passion can be something you care deeply about: Photography is her passion.
The Passion refers specifically to Christ's suffering and crucifixion.
In older usage, passions were any strong emotions—love, hate, anger, grief—that moved the soul.
