rage
Explosive, consuming anger
Except in the expression all the rage, which describes something that is wildly popular, rage is extreme and violent anger – and something to be avoided.
Certainly avoid anyone in a jealous rage or a murderous rage.
Listening to someone vent their rage is rarely enjoyable.
To rage is to express violent anger.
When the subject is abstract, it describes extremity and violence, and is said of storms, fires, and torrents of water: The raging waters swept the house off of its foundation.
When debate rages, people disagree vehemently with no end in sight.
