paranoid schizophrenia

Delusional mental disorder

Paranoid schizophrenia is a subtype of schizophrenia characterized by prominent delusions and auditory hallucinations, typically with themes of persecution or grandiosity.

The person may believe others are conspiring against them or that they possess special powers.

Unlike other forms, cognitive function and emotional expression often remain relatively intact.

Though this classification has been phased out of some diagnostic systems, the term persists in common usage: He was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia in his twenties.
