Schizoid describes a personality type marked by emotional coldness, detachment from social relationships, and preference for solitary activities.
In psychiatry, schizoid personality disorder is a formal diagnosis.
More loosely, schizoid characterizes anything split or contradictory: The company's schizoid approach to remote work confused everyone.
Despite the prefix, schizoid is distinct from schizophrenia.
