DSM
Disorder classification guide
DSM most commonly refers to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, published by the American Psychiatric Association.
It's the standard classification system for mental health conditions in the United States: The DSM-5 revised the criteria for autism spectrum disorder.
Clinicians, researchers, and insurance companies rely on DSM codes for diagnosis and billing.
Less frequently, DSM abbreviates other things—Distinguished Service Medal, for instance.
