entomology
Science of insects
Entomology is the scientific study of insects.
An entomologist might research bee colony collapse, mosquito-borne diseases, or beetle taxonomy.
The field encompasses insect behavior, physiology, ecology, and classification.
Not to be confused with etymology, the study of word origins—a common mix-up that amuses practitioners of both.
