Audubon
Audubon refers to John James Audubon (1785–1851), the naturalist and painter whose illustrated book *The Birds of America* remains a landmark of ornithological art.
His name attaches to conservation organizations, nature centers, and wildlife sanctuaries across North America: the National Audubon Society, an Audubon guide to birds.
The name has become nearly synonymous with American bird conservation.
