ornithologists
Students of birds
Ornithologists are scientists who study birds—their behavior, physiology, migration, and ecology.
The term applies both to academic researchers and serious amateur birders with scientific knowledge: Ornithologists have tracked the decline of songbird populations for decades.
The field is ornithology.
