optical mouse
Light-sensing clicker
An optical mouse is a computer mouse that tracks movement using a light-emitting diode and sensor rather than the older rolling ball mechanism.
The LED illuminates the surface beneath it while a tiny camera detects movement patterns.
Optical mice work on most surfaces but struggle with glass or highly reflective materials: The optical mouse kept jumping on my glass desk.
