trackpad

Finger-controlled pointer surface

A trackpad is a flat, touch-sensitive surface built into laptops and some keyboards that serves as an alternative to a mouse.

Moving a finger across the pad controls the cursor on screen, and tapping or pressing it registers as a click.

Most trackpads also recognize multitouch gestures like pinching to zoom or swiping with two fingers to scroll.

The trackpad on my laptop stopped responding after the spill.
