Officially nonexistent citizen
A nonperson is someone treated as if they don't exist or don't matter.
The term often describes individuals erased from official records or public acknowledgment, especially under totalitarian regimes: Stalin had rivals airbrushed from photographs, turning them into nonpersons.
More broadly, it refers to anyone systematically denied recognition, rights, or basic human consideration: Undocumented workers are treated as nonpersons by the system.
