naked mole rat
Subterranean wrinkled rodent
A naked mole rat is a small, nearly hairless burrowing rodent native to East Africa, notable for its wrinkled pink skin, large protruding teeth, and poor eyesight.
These animals live in underground colonies with a social structure similar to bees or ants, with a single breeding queen and worker castes.
They are remarkable for their resistance to cancer, tolerance of low oxygen, and exceptional longevity for rodents.
