myoma
Benign muscle tumor
A myoma is a benign tumor composed of muscle tissue.
The term appears most often in medical contexts referring to uterine fibroids—growths in the muscular wall of the uterus: The ultrasound revealed several small myomas.
Though noncancerous, myomas can cause pain, heavy bleeding, or fertility problems depending on their size and location.
