anemia
Low red cells
Anemia is a condition in which the blood lacks enough healthy red blood cells or hemoglobin to carry adequate oxygen to tissues.
Symptoms include fatigue, weakness, and pallor.
The word extends figuratively to describe any lack of vitality or substance: an anemia of ideas, the anemia of modern political discourse.
Also spelled anaemia in British English.
