hexapod
Bug, technically speaking
Hexapod refers to any creature with six legs—most commonly insects, which constitute the vast majority of hexapods.
In robotics, a hexapod is a six-legged walking machine, often designed to navigate rough terrain: The hexapod robot scrambled over the rubble.
The term comes from Greek roots meaning "six feet."
