lumbar vertebrae
Small-of-back bones
The lumbar vertebrae are the five large bones of the lower spine, between the rib cage and pelvis.
They bear most of the body's weight and allow bending and twisting at the waist.
Lower back pain often involves the lumbar region: The MRI showed a herniated disc between L4 and L5.
