foramina
Holes in bones
Foramina is the plural of foramen, an anatomical term for an opening or hole in a bone or organ that allows passage of nerves, blood vessels, or other structures.
The foramen magnum is the large opening at the base of the skull where the spinal cord connects to the brain.
The surgeon identified the foramina through which the nerves passed.
