lino

Brit's floor covering

Lino is short for linoleum, the durable floor covering made from solidified linseed oil on a canvas backing.

The clipped form is common in British and Australian English: We need to replace the lino in the kitchen.

Like linoleum, lino often describes the patterned, easy-to-clean flooring found in kitchens and bathrooms.
