latinised

Given Latin form

Latinised is the British English spelling of latinized, the past tense and past participle of latinize.

To latinise something is to give it a Latin form or character, whether that means translating words into Latin, adapting foreign terms to follow Latin spelling and grammatical patterns, or bringing Roman Catholic practices to a church or region.

Many English words derived from Greek were latinised before entering the language.

The missionary's goal was to latinise the local religious customs.
