spelling
How words look
Spelling is the arrangement of letters that forms a word, or the activity of forming words letter by letter.
Good spelling follows conventional patterns; poor spelling deviates from them.
A spelling bee tests contestants' ability to spell words correctly.
The word also names particular letter sequences: The British spelling is "colour".
To spell something out is to make it explicit: Do I have to spell it out for you?
