labium

Insect mouthpart structure

Labium is a technical term for a lip or liplike structure, used primarily in anatomy and biology.

In human anatomy, it refers to the folds of skin forming the outer parts of the female genitalia—the labia majora and labia minora.

In entomology, the labium is the lower lip of an insect's mouthparts.

The plural is labia, which appears more frequently in both medical and everyday contexts.
