knucklebone
Hand's bony prominence
A knucklebone is a bone forming part of a knuckle joint, especially the rounded bone at the base of a finger or in an animal's leg.
Historically, knucklebones from sheep or goats were used as gaming pieces—tossed like dice or caught on the back of the hand: The children played knucklebones in the courtyard.
The game itself is also called knucklebones.
