know

Hold in mind

Know covers a lot of territory.

We use know for things that we perceive and understand (know right from wrong, I didn’t know you could read music) and also to talk about people and things we’re familiar or acquainted with (I hardly know your uncle. She lives in Paris and knows it well.) For most purposes, its associated noun is knowledge, but know can also be a noun in the expression in the know.
