who knows
Can't say, really
Who knows is a rhetorical question expressing uncertainty or the impossibility of knowing something: Who knows what tomorrow will bring?
It often signals resigned acceptance that an answer isn't available.
Used alone, it serves as a conversational shrug: Will they ever get back together? Who knows.
