immunosuppressors
Transplant patient's medicine
Immunosuppressors are drugs or agents that reduce the body's immune response.
They're essential after organ transplants to prevent rejection, and they treat autoimmune diseases where the immune system attacks the body's own tissues: She takes immunosuppressors for her lupus.
Also called immunosuppressants.
The tradeoff is increased vulnerability to infections.
