cyclosporine

Anti-rejection drug

Cyclosporine is an immunosuppressant drug that prevents the body from rejecting transplanted organs.

It works by suppressing the immune system's T-cells, which would otherwise attack foreign tissue.

Beyond transplant medicine, it treats severe autoimmune conditions like psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis: The patient was put on cyclosporine after the kidney transplant.

Also spelled ciclosporin.
