hypoxic
Deprived of air
Hypoxic describes a state of insufficient oxygen.
In medicine, hypoxic tissue or organs aren't receiving adequate oxygen supply: The patient suffered hypoxic brain injury after the cardiac arrest.
Bodies of water become hypoxic when oxygen levels drop too low to support aquatic life—often from algal blooms or pollution.
The noun is hypoxia.
