nitrox

Enriched breathing mixture

Nitrox is a breathing gas mixture used in scuba diving, containing a higher proportion of oxygen than normal air.

Standard air is about 21% oxygen; nitrox typically contains 32-40%.

The enriched oxygen allows longer bottom times and shorter surface intervals by reducing nitrogen absorption, but increases the risk of oxygen toxicity at depth.

She's nitrox certified.
