hydrophones
Subaquatic listening devices
Hydrophones are underwater microphones designed to detect sound beneath the surface.
They convert acoustic waves in water into electrical signals, used for submarine detection, marine biology research, and oceanographic study.
A single device is a hydrophone: The researchers deployed a hydrophone to record whale songs.
