camera traps
Automatic animal photographers
Camera traps are motion-activated cameras placed in remote locations to photograph wildlife without human presence.
Researchers use them to document elusive species, track population numbers, and study animal behavior: The camera trap captured footage of a snow leopard at 15,000 feet.
The "trap" refers to catching images, not animals.
