winger
Plays the touchline
A winger is a player positioned on the wing—the outer edges of the field in soccer, hockey, rugby, and similar sports.
Wingers typically attack down the sidelines, delivering crosses or cutting inside toward goal.
In political slang, a winger is someone on the extreme end of the spectrum: a right-winger, a left-winger.
The political sense often carries dismissive connotations.
