bracero
Seasonal field worker
A bracero is a Mexican laborer admitted to the United States for seasonal agricultural work.
The term comes from Spanish for "one who works with his arms." The Bracero Program (1942–1964) brought millions of Mexican workers to American farms under temporary contracts: My grandfather came as a bracero to pick cotton in Texas.
