guylines

Anchor a canopy

Guylines are the cords or ropes that stabilize a tent by anchoring it to the ground at an angle.

They run from the tent's body or rainfly to stakes, preventing collapse in wind: Make sure your guylines are taut before the storm hits.

Also spelled guy lines or, less commonly, guide lines—from guy meaning a rope used for steadying.
