growl
Low throat rumble
A growl is a low, rumbling sound of hostility or warning, typically from an animal: The dog's growl deepened as the stranger approached.
Humans growl too—in anger, frustration, or to speak in a rough, threatening voice: He growled his displeasure.
Machinery and stomachs also growl, producing similar low, rumbling sounds.
