A stomach growl is the rumbling sound produced when gas and fluids move through the digestive system, typically associated with hunger but occurring during digestion as well.
The sound comes from intestinal contractions, not the stomach itself, though the misnomer persists: My stomach growl interrupted the meeting.
Also called stomach rumble or, technically, borborygmus.
