greylist
Neither blocked nor approved
A greylist is a middle category between a whitelist (approved) and a blacklist (rejected).
In email systems, greylisting temporarily rejects messages from unknown senders, accepting them only after a retry—a tactic that blocks much spam, since spammers rarely retry.
More broadly, greylisted items are neither fully trusted nor fully blocked but held for review.
Also spelled graylist.
