blacklisting
Adding to outcasts
Blacklisting is the practice of putting someone on a list of people to be excluded, denied employment, or otherwise punished.
The term evokes the Hollywood blacklist of suspected Communist sympathizers in the 1950s, but applies broadly: The company was accused of blacklisting union organizers.
In computing, blacklisting blocks specific addresses or programs while allowing everything else—the opposite of whitelisting.
