open forum
Unrestricted debate venue
An open forum is a setting where anyone present may speak freely on topics under discussion.
The term evokes public meetings where citizens address officials, but extends to any venue—physical or digital—where participation isn't restricted: The town hall became an open forum for residents to voice concerns.
Online platforms often designate spaces as open forums to signal that diverse viewpoints are welcome.
