public forums
Spaces for debate
Public forums are spaces—physical or virtual—where people gather for open discussion, debate, or exchange of ideas.
Originally parks, plazas, and town halls; now also online platforms, comment sections, and social media.
In legal contexts, a public forum has First Amendment protections limiting government restrictions on speech: The courthouse steps have traditionally been a public forum.
