virtual community
Internet-based social network
A virtual community is a group of people who interact and form relationships primarily through digital means rather than face-to-face contact.
Members typically share common interests, goals, or identities and gather on platforms like forums, social media, or online games.
The knitting virtual community helped me troubleshoot my first sweater project.
Unlike geographic communities, virtual ones can span the globe, though they often develop their own norms, hierarchies, and sense of belonging.
