vapor barrier
Humidity control layer
A vapor barrier is a material that resists the passage of moisture through walls, floors, or ceilings.
Typically plastic sheeting or foil, it prevents condensation from forming inside building structures where it could cause mold or rot.
The contractor installed a vapor barrier before adding insulation.
Also called vapor retarder.
