floor plans

Architectural room diagrams

Floor plans are scale drawings showing the layout of a building from above, as if the roof were removed.

They map walls, rooms, doors, and windows, sometimes including furniture placement or electrical outlets.

Architects use them to design buildings; real estate listings use them to show prospective buyers what they're getting: The floor plan shows three bedrooms and an open kitchen.
