Ferris wheel
Giant rotating attraction
A Ferris wheel is a large rotating amusement ride with passenger cars mounted around the circumference of a vertical wheel.
As the wheel turns, riders ascend to heights offering panoramic views before gradually descending: The Ferris wheel lit up the night sky.
Named after George Ferris, who built the original for the 1893 Chicago World's Fair.
Also spelled ferris wheel, though the capitalized form acknowledging the inventor remains common.
