maroon
Brownish wine shade
Maroon is a dark brownish-red color, the shade of dried blood or burgundy wine: a maroon sweater, maroon upholstery.
As a verb with different origins, to maroon someone is to abandon them in an isolated place, originally on a deserted island: The pirates marooned him on a sandbar.
By extension, anyone stranded or cut off is marooned: We were marooned at the airport for twelve hours. (Capitalized Maroon refers to descendants of escaped slaves in the Caribbean and Americas.)
