wherry
Light river boat
A wherry is a light, shallow rowboat used for carrying passengers and goods, especially on rivers.
The term applies particularly to boats once common on the Thames and other English waterways: The ferryman rowed his wherry across to the far bank.
In some regions, wherry also refers to a type of sailing barge with a single large sail.
