radial artery

Thumb-side wrist vessel

The radial artery is a major blood vessel running along the thumb side of the forearm, from the elbow to the wrist.

It's where medical professionals typically check a pulse, pressing two fingers against the inner wrist where the artery passes close to the surface.

The radial artery also supplies blood to the hand and is commonly used for arterial blood draws and cardiac catheterization access.
