exogenous
Originating from without
Exogenous means originating from outside—external to a system, organism, or process.
In medicine, an exogenous substance enters the body from outside: exogenous insulin, exogenous hormones.
In economics, an exogenous variable is determined by factors outside the model being studied.
The opposite is endogenous, meaning arising from within.
