enology
Study of winemaking
Enology is the science and study of winemaking, covering everything from grape cultivation through fermentation to bottling.
An enologist understands the chemistry of wine production and applies that knowledge to improve quality: She studied enology at UC Davis before joining the vineyard.
Also spelled oenology, especially in British English.
